Abstract: The computational cost for numerical simulation of wave propagation increases drastically with the frequency. At very high frequencies asymptotic methods becomes preferable. We shall discuss different analytic models of eikonal and Liouville equation types for the high frequency limit and their numerical implementation. We shall also study the computational complexity of the most common numerical algorithms for scalar and vector wave equations and the hybridization between the different techniques. Both time and frequency domains will be considered.
