Two-Dimensional
Cloaking in the Visible Frequency Range
Dr. Igor Smolyaninov

Abstract:
Metamaterials provide unprecedented freedom and
flexibility in the creation of new structures, which
control electromagnetic wave propagation in very
unusual ways. Very recently various theoretical
designs for an electromagnetic cloak have been
suggested, and an experimental realization of a
partial cloak operating in a two-dimensional
cylindrical geometry has been reported in the
microwave frequency range. I will describe
experimental two-dimensional reduced visibility
structures, which approximate the distribution of
the dielectric permittivity necessary to achive
non-magnetic cloaking in the visible frequency
range. |
